Citrix XenApp cannot contact the license server

I was getting the error "Citrix XenApp cannot contact the license server". this error was caused due to service failed on Citrix license server. The License service was up for a minute and failing iimediately.

Solution: Delete two files "concurrent_state.xml and/or the activation_state.xml" from
C:\Program Files\Citrix\Licensing\ls\conf\activation_state.xml and concurrent_state.xml on a 32-bit server

C:\Program Files(x86)\Citrix\Licensing\ls\conf\activation_state.xml and concurrent_state.xml on a 64-bit server

/opt/citrix/licensing/LS/conf/activation_state.xml and concurrent_state.xml for License Server VPX

Now restart teh Citrix license service on license server.

The Citrix link for it is:

Have a nice day!

  3. You might be missing proper LS installation. Search for the same files in C & D drives. If you couldn;t find them, then you need to repair or reinstall Citrix License server app.

    1. I couldnt find any of the required files in any where in C or D drive. Does this surely means the LS is not properly installed. Is there any way by which i can surely check if LS server is properly installed or not. P.S.- I am having my licenses installed on a different server and launching ctirix from another server. Please guide me if i can confirm this by any means i.e. faulty installation

Is there any work around that can solve this error despite those files not available?

      Thanks

  4. Not sure for any other workaround. Check for Citrix License services state and check Citrix license app in Control panel. If you could n't find services, app in control panel and folder structure that means the installation was not right. CItrix License server module installation is easy and you can bring it back very quick as long as you have license file to upload it.

  5. I was having this issue on my installation of XenApp Fundamentals 6.0. I tried the hotfix from Citrix and several other things before finding this post. I had to restart my server after removing the two files, but your fix worked like a charm. Thank you!.
